What is the NH?
The Nehemiah House is dedicated to seeking God for the restoration and discipleship of a new urban generation through living in the community and loving our neighbors. There are three major components to the ministry:
(3) The Open Door - Growing in community with the neighborhood through a teen center in the house, community meals 4 days-a-week with up to 35 people and families from the neighborhood and learning to love one another
We want simply to become like Jesus individually and as a community as we learn to abide in Him and to proclaim who He is through our words, our humble service, and our relationships. We want to expose, train and send people to live out the gospel intentionally in a community of need - ours or another.
Jesus came to reveal Himself and His salvation to the world that He loves. He did it by becoming a real and normal person walking the dusty streets. He did it by showing a personal and real love through delivering people, healing others and teaching. He hung out with the people that the world thought were a waste.
Why would a bunch of young adults live in the inner city? Because Jesus is still walking the streets longing to reveal Himself. We participate with Him when we choose to let ourselves be formed by Him. We participate with Him when we walk in His ways and learn to do His will, loving and serving people.
We all come from broken places. We are looking for interns who want to draw close to Jesus and become like Him. When we offer a year to God, He is certain to work in tremendous ways.
